About Us

After leaving school I studied psychology and spent almost 14 years working with children and their families. Almost six years ago I gave birth to my first baby and discovered how wonderful birth can be. I felt really passionate about empowering  & educating parents to have the births that they want for their baby so Nurturing Mama’s was born & we were the first to offer Gentlebirth workshops in Kildare.

Since 2013 I have been working with working with pregnant and new parents, as a Gentlebirth instructor, baby yoga teacher and babywearing consultant.  I completed my Gentlebirth Instructor training with Tracy Donegan (Gentlebirth founder) and took the DONA international training.  I have spent the past four years supporting parents using Gentlebirth and have extensive experience of using the programme both professionally and personally.

Throughout my three pregnancies and births I used the GentleBirth programme, it was important to me that I would feel calm and in control when I was birthing.  My first baby was born in the Coombe Hospital, it was the most wonderfully natural, calm and positive experience and my recovery was quick. My second baby, came quicker than I expected and arrived in the back of the car, again it was an amazing birth and again wonderfully calm and gentle. My third was an incredible home birth, my baby was born surrounded by those who would love her the most.  I believe that GentleBirth helped me overcome my fears and empowered me to believe that birthing was something I was absolutely capable of.

My own mother (a paediatric nurse) is an infant massage therapist & baby yoga teacher and  works alongside me at Nurturing Mama’s.  She runs baby yoga (Thursdays) & infant massage classes (Fridays) also at Snugglebugs, Naas, Kildare.  All the classes are very relaxed and baby-led with an emphasis on having fun while bonding with your baby.

I hold a Gentlebirth workshops and VBAC workshops on a monthly basis and I am also available for private Gentlebirth classes if circumstances require.

We also host Pregnancy, Birth & Baby events in the Nurturing Mamas Studio, Naas on a monthly basis. These are free to attend and a really great way to hear more about positive pregnancy, birth and early months with your baby. They are held on a monthly basis (the next one will be held on 23rd January). For more information see the information night section of the website

    • Sophie, I really do apologise that I missed your message. We have baby yoga running every Friday, you can join at any stage and 5 classes is €60. Your baby would be a lovely age now to start. Please email me at info@nurturingmamas.ie if I can help any further
