My gentlebirth baby arrived Friday 8th April at 5:03pm. with my first baby 2 years ago I used the birthing pool in the Combe to labour and found this fantastic but I can vividly remember the feeling of fear present throughout the experience. This birth was completely different, I did a Gentlebirth workshop with Tricia at Nurturing Mama’s in Naas and it was the best decision I ever madeContinue reading

Crying it out-A dangerous parenting practise
Parenting is a 24/7 job, it doesn’t end when the sun goes down at night. It’s a really sad fact that tonight thousands of babies will be left to cry it out by their parents, the same parents that love and respond with tenderness and speed to their babies needs during the day will neglect their babies by night. Obviously people who resort to sleep training, via crying it out, do not intentionally cause harm to their baby, I would assume most would be horrified to think that their behaviour would be considered neglectful and I would imagine most of them don’t know the dangers of this practiseContinue reading

At about 4am on 30th November, I was 39 weeks, I woke with surges (contractions), they were about 10mins apart and very intense.Continue reading

A Mother’s Love
A Mother’s Love
I wrote this last year as I was preparing to welcome our third baby into our family! Its very common for a mother to have concerns as to how they will love their second baby when they feel that the love they have for their first born cannot be matched. These are my thoughts:Continue reading
